While summer has never been my favorite season — give me an autumn rainstorm over a vacation at the beach any day — this year, I’m leaning into all the ways I can make my summer more calm and peaceful. A healthy pinch of childhood nostalgia and a dollop of romanticized activities are sure to make this a season to enjoy.

I’m writing this on the heels of a blizzard, post our whirlwind Los Angeles getaway, all while longingly looking ahead to the 60-70° weather in the forecast. One thing is certain: false spring has arrived. But that also means that spring is just around the corner. In like a lion, out like a lamb? Fingers crossed!

February has a lovely charm about it: it’s a time when life feels softer, slower, and a little cozier. We find it’s the perfect invitation to romanticize the little things and bring more beauty and intention into our daily lives.

We may have turned the page to the beginning of a new year, but here at Breezy Acres we’d like to remind & encourage a different path, one that embraces the power of rest and reflection. Personally, we find the quiet winter stillness of January to be the perfect time for reflection, rather than resolution. Like the natural world surrounding us, we honor the rhythm of the seasons, and prefer waiting until the spring equinox to solidify our intentions and goals. During these in-between months, we like to retreat within, reflect on the past year, and take some much needed time to tend to ourselves, mentally, physically & spiritually.
